You don't really need to know much of the past seasons to understand the pain premise of the new seasons.
The reference to the past seasons are subtle and only adds something to the story.

OMG...my favorite show for the last three years! Had to see it on dvd to get the most out of it....can't imagine watching with commercials and wait until next week for resolution.. When and if you get hooked, you just keep switching discs to keep the story going (except with stupid sub plots) tick tock indeed!

That's a great picture. 24 is one of my favorite shows for the past 4 years and one that I always make sure I'm home to watch.
This upcoming season is going to be interesting and I don't like waiting longer to see the new season but I do like seeing a new episode everyweek

Spoiler Alert!! [-X don't read unless you've seen season 3:
Favorite episode was in Season 3 when Jack had to do something really harsh... the character he was with was such an ass up to that point and then they turn around and you really start to feel bad for the guy...perfect music, acting, and timing and I didn't think they'd actually do the deed.... (just in case you didn't see it yet, i don't want to spoil it for ya)

That show has SUCH a following over here...
I missed the first ones and have had to ignore it 'til I get lent the box-sets by my GF's brother....
I didn't wanna ruin it for myself....
It has the reputation of being one of the most compelling/addictive shows on TV and I am yet to meet a soul who hasn't raved about it, singing its praises.....

Yeah, Tony is a dead man, I'm thinking mid April.
President Palmer was a good man so RIP. But he and Tony's chick ran their course. This is the "fugitive" year of 24 so they really wouldn't be very good. I am worried about Chloe because it seems the head-set man has CTU clearance.
Logan is just a putz. I don't think he is in on all this, but his SSA is.
How out of control did it get? Jack was flying a helicoptor in the first 10 minutes. LOL!

Jan 16 2006, 12:46 PM
What an awesome premeire episode
Palmer dying was sad but made for one hell of a way to start the season.
That's true about Michelle running her course. I thought that I read somewhere that Tony was helping Jack come back to life so he must pull out of surgery soon so he can. Mid April (1/2 way through) does sound like a good time to kill him off too but I'd rather see him stay. I like the character and I don't really want to see him go but if he does, it's a good way to get rid of almost everyone tied to the first season this year.
I also have to say that I HATE Logan. He's such a prick and an ass but for the show, he's perfect.
I can't wait to see what tonight has to bring and how Jack saves everyone in the airport. And what are they doing in the airport???
ShadowKing
Jan 16 2006, 03:53 PM
did anyone think Palmer knew he was going to be killed? He's looking out the window and (when they replayed the scene in the last episode preview for the second hour) he seems "resigned to his fate" kind of look. Almost (sadly) had a feel of the assasination of MLK...wonder if the writers planned it that way, the day before the holiday and all.
check it again tonight if they show it in previews.
If tonight is the "conclusion" of the opening episode (as the commercial stated), does that mean the story/plot takes a different twist after hour number 4?

palmer, michelle, and tony were/are all some of my favorite characters, so im bummed palmer and michelle are gone, but you're right. palmer's death was necessary for the thrust of this season, and michelle was basically alot like chloe skill-wise, so there's not much point to her being around if chloe lives. which sucks, since i find chloe to be pretty damned annoying most of the time.
yeah, most of the original cast is being wiped out--wonder if kim and chase'll show up this season. are they even still with ctu? i'd think at some point jack would tell kim he's alive.
i still hate logan, but at least he's able to stick to his guns now. i dont think his wife will last the day
i'm not sure i like lynn mcgill either. sure, he saved the day, but you can tell he's there to bring trouble
next week's episode looks awsome. nerve gas? pretty bad news.

They just keep sticking you with annoying characters named Chloe
I heard that Kim is going to come back but Chase is not. I don't know if that means they're still together or not. It will be nice to see her reaction to Jack being alive and Jack's reaction to seeing her again.
Logan is getting a little better and hopefuly he makes a better President by the end of the day. I think that his wife is going to be a big role before the day is over too. I think she'll be one of the reason's Walt is found out to be a traitor.
I can see McGill being a thorn in the side of almost everyone at CTU but I also see him playing a big role. Maybe he's the Tony of this season.

mcgill is in like 9 eps according to tv guide, and his role keeps getting lengthened. it was originally 5
cool that kim is coming back. i like her character.
yeah, logan could get better, but its gotta be less 'this is all about my presidency'. mabye now that the treaty's signed things'll be better
i agree about his wife
chloe on SV i can handle and have liked this season. chloe on 24 gets on my nerves, especially when she's in scenes with edgar

While I don't trust Spenser, I'm glad that Chloe saw some action. For the first two hours I didn't want to smash her skull in with a crowbar.
An AMAZING first four hours. The first five minutes - BAM! How are they gonna top that? 10 minutes later KABLAM - they topped it!
Holy Crap!

For anyone who wants a little backstory to this season, there is a special episode (mini?) on the Season 4 DVD set that shows Jack with Derek and his mom and I guess gives more info on why Derek is suspicious of "Frank".

Yeah he scenes with Edgar are by far the worse. She always seems to put him down which has gotten very old. It sounded like they wanted to make her role bigger and I can't believe that the first episodes is what they were talking about so maybe something happens that loosens her up and makes her less bitchy towards people.

I wonder if his break down is caused by finding out Walt is involved with the terrorist. Or it could be as simple as he freaks out because bad stuff keeps happening on his watch.
Vindicated Hero
Jan 19 2006, 03:02 PM
im thinking the latter with logan, though a mole on his staff would probably be included in the bad stuff on his watch.
edgar....seems like he's stuck in the season 3 chloe role. as much as i dislike chloe, edgar is worse by far
i agree about mcgill
jgkemper
Jan 19 2006, 07:07 PM
Yeah that does make sense for it to be the whole thing about bad stuff keep happening. It'd be hard for anyone to handle, except Palmer that is. He was to smooth to be as messed up as Logan is.
Your right about Edgar, he does seem stuck in last season and I can't see them doing that with him again. It'd be pretty pathetic.

Good episode last night.
I figured something was up with Spencer but not that. I figured if he was going to be doing something against CTU then he'd be an actual bad guy and not a pawn.
They did a great job with Jack and Audrey's meeting. You could really feel the tension and feelings between them.
It's going to be good to see exactly what Jack does next week regarding Cummings. That man is screwed.
Vindicated Hero
Jan 24 2006, 08:39 AM
i think spencer was lying about not knowing.
why else would he be tracking jack specifically?
how else would he know jack was even alive?

im not so sure walt's screwed yet. it looks like logan takes his side with jack being arrested there

firstly...holy crap
i really dont like logan. the man is a total pushover and needs to go
mcgill is proving to be pretty cool.
the jack/audrey stuff was nice. something tells me jack's other family isnt going far though
so what exactly are the terrorists planning now? obviously to release the gas, but i want more details as to why
who's so big they cant show their face in the preview?
hm....

Jan 31 2006, 08:16 AM
I totally agree about Logan. The guys a putz and makes for a horrible president. I'd be freaked if I knew how he acted and was leading our country. It almost looks like Jack feels that way too.
It was great to see McGill go off the straight path and recind the order before the White House did. Shows he's got some guts and is willing to do what's right.
The Jack/Audrey scenes were nice and I'm curious to see how they're going to still use his other family. They showed them a lot near the end and I can't believe it's just to show them leaving CTU.
I wonder if the terrorists were going to release some in the US all along or if by finding out there was a spy among them, it got them pissed and turned their sites on the US instead of Russia. I'm leaning towards they had the whole Russia thing set up as a way to flush out any moles that might interfer with their main goal, destroying the US.
With Tony already out of the picture for awhile I can't think of anyone they could bring back as a big surprise. Hopefully we don't have to wait to long to find out who it is.

lets see
good people who are still alive are kim and chase--and kim is supposed to be back at some point
bad people could be mandy or the dude from the boat at the end of day 2--they never caught him, did they?
jgkemper
Jan 31 2006, 12:51 PM
Last I heard Chase wasn't coming back but you never know with this show.
Mandy? Was she the girl from last season and the one who poisoned Palmer?
I don't even remember the end of season 2 so it could be the person you mention.
I do kind of hope that it's someone we've seen before. It's neat to see people come back who haven't been on for awhile.
